Republic of Chad
Context and Opportunities
Chad, a landlocked Sahelian country, faces immense infrastructural and humanitarian challenges. With one of the lowest electricity access rates on the planet, the development of decentralized energy solutions is an absolute necessity to improve living conditions, support agriculture, and strengthen community resilience to climate change.
Potential Intervention Zones
The Logone, Mayo-Kebbi, and Lake Chad regions, which host large rural populations and many internally displaced persons, are priority intervention areas. An RMS Impact hub could secure the power supply for health centers and provide vital services there.
Institutional Partnership
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and the Rural Electrification Development Agency (ADER) are the main government counterparts. Close coordination with humanitarian actors (UN, NGOs) is also essential.
