Republic of Kenya
Context and Opportunities
Kenya is the technological and financial hub of East Africa, nicknamed the "Silicon Savannah." With a dynamic economy and high mobile penetration, the demand for reliable internet connectivity and stable energy is immense. However, rural areas, particularly in the north and pastoral regions, remain underserved.
Potential Intervention Zones
The northern counties like Turkana and Marsabit, as well as coastal areas outside of Mombasa, present high potential. The RMS Impact approach would connect pastoral communities, support agri-tech, and develop ecotourism in nature reserves.
Institutional Partnership
A collaboration would be considered with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) and the ICT Authority of Kenya, which respectively lead the country's rural energy and digital transformation strategies.
